This is a new feature, that we observed while doing a Google Search. From now on, Google search results will provide various brands to choose from while searching.

For example doing a search for ‘Car’, gives you Nissan, Toyota and Ford brands on the top of search results.

Similarly, as long as you’re buying something online, Google can give you results of the famous brands. Although, we are not sure if this is a new feature by the search giant.

Here is a screenshot:

Thoughts? or Opinions on how this could change the shopping trend of brands?

From the official Google blog ,an interesting new feature is now available on Google Search. You can now search into the history of published tweets by Twitter members.

From the page dedicated to this type of search, you can view the results in real time, within a chart which shows the timeline of tweets, containing the keyword searched: the higher the graph, the most in a given period that topic was discussed on Twitter.

This allows you to search for what was said on the social network during an earthquake , with lots of functions like “Replay” by which trace the succession of tweets as being published now in real time, making a journey into the past.

Useful? Try it out yourself. Here is how:

- Search for any information

- Click on More options

- Click on Updates and select latest

Now you should be able to see a bar graph on the search page. Scroll through to view the information.

According to an eye-tracking study by OneUpWeb, users of the Google search engine ignore the results in real time from Google.

The study consisted of 44 people divided into two groups: those seeking information and those who wanted to buy a product. 73% of the volunteers had never heard of the results in real time. The study aimed to answer three main questions:

The average user of the browser, you recognize and understand the results in real time

Consumers, “use the results in real time

What do the consumers of such results

The results:

Only 25% of consumers used and viewed the results in real time, compared with 47% of those seeking information.

Most participants were indifferent to the results in real time.

From the graph, users only take into account the window of real-time results of Twitter. Maybe better if Google place it higher on the page, but I think the results would be similar. The fact that there is not much importance given to these results could indicate that you the profile is ranked low or Google is aware of the devaluation of the quality of the results due to real-time search results.

Google real-time search is already live… Yes it is … According to Google, “Relevance meets the real-time web”.

About 2 months ago, we reported that google is going to bring realtime search soon. Now after, 4months Google on late on Friday afternoon, U.S. Western Time, announced that they are now releasing the personalized search, personalized search for all users. Although, this was seen by many as the biggest single change made to the search results, it so seemed that very few noticed anything at all.

The news was hardly highlighted at all. Perhaps because of the date but perhaps also because many of us who spend much of our time trying to analyze what Google is doing already had become used to Google rarely produces the same results for two different users.

A few who thought it was a bit strange that Google did so little fuss on the issue. Little did we know that this was a tiny little change compared with what would be presented today … Google was not only personally, both with regard to your geographic location and search history and choice of sökresutat, but also to its timing. Now, Google now gets updates from various services such as Twitter, Facebook pages, MySpace, Identic, Jaiku … and not to forget in real-time!

On the Google blog, Google says:

Our real-time search enables you to discover breaking news the moment it’s happening, even if it’s not the popular news of the day, and even if you didn’t know about it beforehand. For example, in the screen shot, the big story was about GM’s stabilizing car sales, which shows under “News results.” Nonetheless, thanks to our powerful real-time algorithms, the “Latest results” feature surfaces another important story breaking just seconds before: GM’s CEO stepped down.

If you want to see real-time search, first look, here it is:

Techcrunch compares Google’s realtime search to the speed of light .

“Light can travel around the world in 1/10th of a second, and we won’t rest until the speed of light is the only barrier to getting good search results to you,” Singhal noted. You can find some screenshots, videos and more information on the techcrunch post here.

Google has announced that for certain queries they will be showing site hierarchies in the search results rather than URL’s string information. On first inspection I don’t like the system because in all the examples Google has provided the keyword rich product URL is removed and replaced with a more generic category level keyword.

For example this nice URL “/spidersapien/” (in bold)

This gets replaced with a less clickable “Toys & Games > Robots”

On the plus side the categories in the hierarchy are links through to the category pages on the site but this isn’t clear when you look at them which could lead to confusion.

Here is how the links are generated:

The information in these new hierarchies come from analyzing destination web pages. For example, if you visit the ProductWiki Spidersapien page, you’ll see a series of similar links at the top, “Home> Toys & Games> Robots.”

These are standard navigational tools on web is called “breadcrumbs,” which webmasters frequently show on their sites to help users navigate. Google says ‘By analyzing site breadcrumbs, we’ve been able to improve the search snippet for a small percentage of search results, and we hope to expand in the future’.

What do you think? Is this a good idea? Post your comments below.
