The next time you look at the people widget, you might see up to 3 photos from recent emails from that person. Not only does this remind you of photos they’ve sent to you, but it also gives you one click access to the emails with those photos.

 

Most of us, would want to NOT show the photos on the Gmail email window. Here’s how you can disable your photos from being showing in Gmail.

From our research on the Google groups, the only possible option is to disable the people widget altogether..

To turn it off goto Gmail Settings > General > Hide people widget.

Now that you all have an invite, here are couple of simple shortcuts that you can use in your Google+ posts to make your Google+ posts look more elegant and presentable and not to mention nicer

1. Italicize the text

Use _ italic text _ to show ➜ italic text

2. Bold Text

Use * bold text * to show ➜ bold text

3. Strikethrought text

- strikethrough text - ➜ strikethrough text

4. Link to a person or a post

@iGoogle WatchBlog or +iGoogle WatchBlog ➜ +iGoogle Watch (press @ or + to link to a person in a post or comment)

5. Disable comments or re-sharing (▽)

After you post, click the little dropdown arrow (▽) in the upper right of the post to disable comments or disable resharing (i.e., for things you don’t want to spread beyond your specified audience).

6. Navigation shortcuts

Press “k” or “j” to move up or down in the stream.

7. Post quickly

Press Tab then Enter after writing a comment on a post to submit it quickly. (much faster than clicking the Post Comment button everytime)

There is a project called data liberation project which aims at exporting or liberating the information from Google using a simple export feature. Here is a quick ‘how to‘ guide on ‘how to export all the documents from Google Docs‘ (PDF, WORD, EXCEL, PPT etc).

If you want to export all documents at once:

- Click on ‘All items‘ in your Google Docs on the main Google Docs page. Then you click the first button in the menu bar and choose “Select All visible (xxx) from”. Now all files will be highlighted

- Now, Click on ‘More Action‘ –> ‘Export‘

In the dialog you can now specify in what format the various types (Documents, Spreadsheets, Presentations, PDFs, and store files (like bookmarks from Chrome)) wants and what file types to be loaded.

After clicking ‘ Next‘, Google will automatically create a zip of all files. This process might take several minutes, depending on the number of documents you’ve stored in Google Docs. If you don’t want to wait untill the zipping process is complete, you can simply click on send to mail and it’ll automatically send all the zipped file via email..

The application is more like a sample of what you can do with a Google Docs API, but it’s pretty useful if you want to upload a lot of documents. There’s also an option to add “Send to Google Docs” to the contextual menu so you can upload files directly from Windows desktop.

Here is how to upload documents from your desktop to Google docs using Doc uploader.

1. Download the application from http://google-gdata.googlecode.com/files/DocListUploader-1.0.exe and install it.

2. Once installed you can easily drag and drop the documents and upload it to your Google docs account.

3. You can also just right click on the documents from the desktop and send to Google docs.

Also, there is another way to upload more files at once is to send them to the email address displayed on this page, but this only works with documents and presentations and there are some restrictions regarding the size of the uploaded files.
