Muziic is a new media player. Unlike iTunes, Foobar2000 or Windows Media Player, the player has no local library. All titles, songs and videos; the player plays originate from Google servers for YouTube.

In a search it gives you the title and Muziic lists all the results from YouTube. You can then add the videos to a playlist and play it together. Optionally, you can also go to the persons YouTube account and this playlist is then stored online. To do so, one needs a free account with Muziic.

Muziic relies on the YouTube API. The player cannot play if the video is not on the youtube servers.
Matt Rosoff, an analyst for Directions on Microsoft, wrote about Muziic Saturday, March 7th on his “Digital Noise” CNET blog. CNET Senior Writer Greg Sandoval broke the story the next day, leading to a swarm of publicity and media interest.

Within only two short weeks after our “unofficial launch” on February 25th, 2009, Muziic has been covered on CNET, CNN, CBS News, The Huffington Post, Ars Technica, Billboard, Yahoo, Wired, and more.

Muziic has been featured on the homepages of internet giants Download.com and Baixaki.com.br. Since our launch, we’ve been covered in many print, audio, video and web publications.

“We encourage people to leverage the power of our open API to embed YouTube videos in creative and innovative ways that comply with our terms of service,” a Google spokesperson told CNET News when asked about Muziic.

YouTube applauded Muziic co-founder David Nelson for coming up with the idea for Muziic, Greg Sandoval told the CNET Daily Podcast on Friday. However, Muziic and Google are still working out the details for Muziic to better suit their service.

Mark Nelson, CEO and co-founder of Muziic said, “We feel that YouTube now has a better understanding of Muziic’s intentions for creating a YouTube-powered music site, and we have a much greater feel for what YouTube would like out of a music service driven by their API,”. .

Well, with all the good and positive feedback that Muziic has been receiving, we need to wait and see the future direction of Muziic.
