Android Developers will now need to use Google Wallet as a payment solution and if you don’t, you will probably be kicked off the market (or Play Zone). This move brings controversial questions on how wrong it is against Google’s own self-determination rule which is often put forward to differentiate itself from Apple with the IOS and now Google is eventually adopting the similar mantra as that of Apple.

So as per this new change all developers will NEED to use Google Waller necessarily. This move could come as a HIT to PayPal , Zong, Boku and other major payment service providers. Developers will not have other choice but to follow suit in order to continue to offer their software.

Google seems to follow the footsteps of its main competitor Apple which has also imposed that all purchases go through its own platform. A choice made for economic reasons, of course, since the sale of each firm at the apple key gives a whopping 30% commission. A strong binding obligation but those developers will need to meet these requirements in order to offer their applications in greater numbers. Google responded to this announcement and stated that its policy of in-app payment has absolutely not changed. The firm said that the stipulations have always said that in-app purchases must go through Google Wallet, except for purchases of physical goods (as on Amazon and eBay for example) or for portable digital goods such as books.

Do you think this new brave move by Google would be welcomed heartly by the developer community?

Google Android Market gets a unified upgrade – the changes include a new name – Google Play and it’s now called the Google Play Store and Android official market client on devices also had to upgrade. Now, officially the Android Market is renamed to Google Play..

Google this morning released the update to the Android Play store client 3.4.7 version to most of the mobile phones via and OTA auto update. The new users are required to accept the terms of service before using the new Google Play store on devices.

Google Play can be accessed through play.google.com. Google Play, the entertainment center in the cloud (formerly known as Android Market), is about to become the storage and application market mandatory for users of Google and Android. This new renamed cloud service from Google also has the potential to compete with the mighty itunes store.

Google has already made a complaint to the National Arbitration Forum. This should not be too complicated because Google already has the trademark for the name of Google Play and in addition, also the domain contains only the keyword of Google. In addition, Google recently acquired 32 domains that included Google “misspelled” (as Goolgle) after a similar judgment. Are you ready for Google Play?

We can see how Google is ahead with this. We need to wait for the final decision on the domain – googleplay.com.

We shared rumors that <strike>Google would acquire RIM</strike> but it turned out that we were wrong!

It looks the first half of the rumor was indeed true. Google is acquiring BUT not RIM instead, Motorola Mobility for $12.5 Billon. This new acquisition gives Google 706 total patents and patented applications, making Google 317 patents + Motorola mobility 706 in total = 1023 patents richer!

This deal is more about defending the Android platform from patent attacks. For most companies, $12.5 billion is a ridiculous price for patent protection, but remember Google has about $39 billion in cash on hand. With that kind of bank, it could keep shopping.

Google CEO Larry Page said in a blog post on the purchase:

We recently explained how companies including Microsoft and Apple are banding together in anti-competitive patent attacks on Android. Our acquisition of Motorola will increase competition by strengthening Google’s patent portfolio, which will enable us to better protect Android from anti-competitive threats from Microsoft, Apple and other companies.

This blogpost confirms the acquisition…. Seems like Android is here to stay – Go Google!

Are you hitting the “invalid command-line parameter problem” as I did? I’ve found a solution by scouring stackoverflow and otherwebsites.

invalid command-line parameter: Files\Android\android-sdk\tools/emulator-arm.exe.
Hint: use ‘@foo’ to launch a virtual device named ‘foo’.
please use -help for more information

Why the error?

Well the problem is because of the whitespaces in the directory path of folder name Program Files
contains whitespace between “program” and “files” and thats causing the problem

How to fix it?

#1. The First workaround is install in a path (directory) with no spaces e.g. C:\Android\

#2. If that is not a possible, the second workaround is to use the “short path” Windows notation (Command prompt trick), e.g. “C:\PROGRA~1″ either on command lines or in the Eclipse prefs. Remember that the number might change depending on your directories; you can use “dir /X c:\” in cmd.exe to see the exact short path for a given directory..

The developers on code.google.com say that this should be resolved soon and they are working on a patch! Lets hope they fix it soon

Yes I think soo . I have no doubt that at their event; Google will have plenty of new things to spit out…… And I suspect that will be the case until Google comes out with the Nexus Two. Hopefully, that won’t be in a couple months from now.

Now reports from Techcrunch show that the phone would be releasing for a price of $530.
The details are as follows: It can only be purchased online via Google. Support for the unit will be provided by Google and HTC and T-Mobile contracts govern. A leaked document shows that the price of the phone is 179.99 U.S. dollars with a two year contract of 79.99 dollars per Month, It can also be purchased without a contract, for 529.99 U.S. dollars.

Probably the new phone will be sold at www.google.com/phone (Currently it says – 404 Not found) and the payment would be done through Google Checkout.

More sources say that the actual detail of the device will be officially released on January 5 which is just before the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas (January 7th).

?

What’s more? we also got the screenshot of the nexus one launch page just for our Google Watch readers:

Google announced the acquisition of AdMob. Google will pay $ 750 million for the startup (about € 500 million). Google hopes that admob is a better tool to develop mobile advertising.

AdMob has served more than 125 billion mobile ads (according to the counter on its homepage) across a variety of platforms including iPhone and Android. Clearly, this is a space that’s red hot right now, and while Google already has launched a number of products into it, this deal greatly accelerates the effort.

Google wants to give by both advertisers and publishers with new opportunities and strengthen their own know-how. The Vice President of Product Susan, writes in the announcement that mobile advertising has great potential and still be young. AdMob has shown that one can achieve considerable success in advertising.
