Today, we found that Google directory page has now been removed with a notice. A month ago, Google announced it would shutdown 
Google Health & Google Powermeter services. And today its time for the Google directory. In today’s world Google Directory might not have much meaning. Google directory was the second product launched by Google in competition with Yahoo. Google directory uses a third-party navigation but involved an automatic ranking algorithm on which sites added to the directory were ranked upon. With the internet boon Google has now become the #1 Global search engine leaving Yahoo and Bing miles away in the search engine industry..!
The note on Google’s directory page states that it has now officially been closed:
“We believe that Web Search is the fastest way to find the information you need on the web.
If you prefer to browse a directory of the web, visit the Open Directory Project at dmoz.org”
So it is goodbye to Google’s second project – The web directory.. Rest in peace dear friend!
