While everyone is talking about the new Google+, we’ve got something new!
This is a new initiative by the data liberation front. The whole reason\purpose of this movement is to help users export\backup\remove or TAKEOUT information from Google services easily. Up untill now, if you wanted to migrate from Google to another similar product, the only way was to export the details from ONE Google product at a time. Now with GOOGLE TAKEOUT, getting your information from Google is as easy as getting a Takeout (instead of cooking I mean
).
For now, this new service can help you archive and download info from 4 services:
- Buzz
- Contacts and Circles
- Picasa Web Albums
- Profile
(circles?)
When you choose to archive and download your details from Google services, you get an compressed file with the Google services listed above.
Here is a video on how Google Takeout works.
